Shakshuka

Get ready to dig in this spicy and flavorful Shakshuka!

Shakshuka is a renowned Middle Eastern culinary staple that came to us from North African Cuisine. It is the PERFECT Brunch meal, with of poached eggs in a rich tomato and bell pepper sauce. We took our Shakshuka up a notch by infusing it with a blend of spices, 7 to be exact, that add a kick and incredible flavors.

So grab your apron, fire up the stove, and let's embark on a flavorful journey together!

Ingredients:

1 hot pepper (Jalapeño or Serrano, remove white ribs to control heat)
5 garlic cloves, sliced thin
1.5 sweet bell peppers, julienned (red, orange, yellow)
1 onion, sliced
Parsley, handful chopped
Olive oil
Shake-Shuka Spice Mix: 2-3 Tbsp
Tomatoes, 32oz can OR (whole, cute, or crushed)
Salt & pepper
Eggs (5-6 for this quantity)

Steps:

1. In a large pan, heat up some olive oil and sauté the onion, garlic, and hot pepper.

2. After a few minutes, add the bell peppers and continue cooking until somewhat soft.

3. Add 3 Tbsp of Shake Shuka spice blend. Mix for 1 minute, and add the tomatoes. (if using fresh tomatoes, cut an X on one end, blanch in boiling water, peel, and tear into the pan). Add Salt and pepper, and cook for 10-15 minutes.

4. After a few minutes, taste your sauce and adjust spices and salt as necessary.

5. After 12-15 minutes, when your sauce tastes delicious, make little dimples in the sauce and break the eggs one at a time into the sauce. We recommend breaking each egg in a bowl to make sure you avoid any unwanted shell.

6. Cook on low-medium heat with the lid on. About 8 min for runny eggs and up to 15 minutes for fully cooked eggs. Feel free to open the lid and take a peak.

Garnish with chopped parsley, and serve with warm fresh bread. DIG IN!!!
